That angel decoration has been hanging by the front door for many years. It's not very noticeable, but it's always there.
Mama always used the garage door, but she often checked the front door to make sure it was locked. Whenever she left the house, she would check to make sure the door was indeed locked. When I say "check," she would literally turn the door knob and try to push the door open.
She wanted to make sure no intruders could enter the house.
There was a story that a robber had climbed the gate of our house in the Philippines. They saw the man in the bodega, and he had left behind his briefs with feces on them. That's why the gates were raised and the amount of barbwire increased. The gate was locked, the front door was locked, and the screen door was locked. At night, a chair would be propped up against the door.

Every morning that I had to go into the office for work, Mama would already be up because she was usually awake by 4:30 am or 5 am.
As a regular pedestrian herself, she knew that there are a lot of bad drivers out there. So when I would say "bye" to her when leaving, Mama would always respond by saying, "Bye! Be careful when crossing the street!"
Or when it was cloudy outside, she would always remind me, "It's going to rain; bring an umbrella!" Or if it was fall or winter, she would tell me, "It's cold outside; wear a jacket!" ❤️

Car survival tool that Mama gave me as a gift—about 14 years ago.
From my old car to now, it's just sitting in the side door pocket of my car. Window breaker, seat belt cutter, whistle, compass, flashlight.
In case something happened, like if I got trapped inside the car or just for emergency use... I would be able to survive is what Mama had in mind.

Tiger's eye and obsidian bracelets that Mama gave me on February 3, 2014.
According to Chinese astrology, 2014 was the Year of the Horse, which was a bad year for me, a Wood Rat.
Mama was worried and told me to wear them everyday for at least a year to keep me safe and ward off bad luck or difficulties that might be coming my way.

In the last many years, for Christmas, Mama would gift me one of these. The newest 2 from 2023 are on top.
She also gifted me a pair of knit gloves a few years back; it's in the glove compartment of my car.
She wanted me to be warm during the winter and for my now-bald head not to get cold.
Love is warmth. Warmth is love.

These are just 3 of the flashlights that Mama gave me as a "stocking stuffer" over the years. I think she gave one to everyone.
She would usually tout it as the brightest and/or most energy efficient flashlight yet.
Mama wanted to ensure that I would always have light to guide me in the darkness.
Love is light. Light is love.
