I became a basketball fan in 1988. The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) became even stronger when the Purefoods team arrived on the scene.
Mama also wanted me to have a chance to play basketball. I remember one day, Mama bought me a mini basketball hoop with a backboard bearing the Purefoods logo. She was with Jen when she bought it; they arrived home riding a tricycle, so they also would have carried it aboard a jeep.
Then, one day in 1989, Mama asked Ramon to purchase tickets to watch PBA... live at the Ultra! Unfortunately, there are no pictures to remember the day, but it's still clear in my memory. Those of you who went, maybe you still remember it, too. There was a first game and then the second game—the main game: Purefoods vs. San Miguel. Before the main game, we ate hotdogs there.
I can't seem to remember who won the game. I think Purefoods lost because their "import player" from the US got injured. I have so many memories from when we lived in the Philippines. It seemed like life was an adventure. It was very memorable for me.

Yup, I remember the basketball hoop. There was one at the side of the house and one in the bedroom. And remember the scooter? The skateboard scooters.
